Today I went to 7 Waterfalls of Damajagua, well just the first waterfall was enough of a hike. Most of the people in the group chose to slide down 1 or two of the waterfalls at the first stop. I was not one of them. If I had known that it was not sightseeing, but a trek and swim, I probably would not have done it. But I did enjoy that part of the day.
The parking lot was full of busses as 3 very large cruise ships had descended on Puerto Plata. We hiked, according to my smartwatch, over a mile to the waterfall. The guide joked, or not, that the donkey pictured above was the ambulance. While most of the smart people wore water shoes, I wore my sneakers and socks. I can not wear water shoes, I need some kind of support or else it hurts my back.
There were MANY place where we had to cross a stream, I hope my sneakers dry by the time I pack them Saturday.
Lunch was included and it was pretty good. Grilled meats and fresh produce.
It was the first time I had eaten since the huge lunch on Monday, We then left for a small city tour of Puerto Plata. I was with a couple in their 80's, she did the hike with me, he did not. Either way, we were all tuckered out and only did some walking Puerto Plata. The square and the fort. The the thankful hour ride back to the resort where I promptly slept for an hour. I am off at 6:15 AM Wednesday morning to Cayo Levantado island, also known as Bacardi island,
