My only complaint so far, except for the French guy with hygiene issues who I sat next to from Chicago to Amsterdam, would be the temperature in my Hotel room. It was warm and I could not get it cooled to a temperature of my liking. I complained twice on Saturday and once on Sunday. I get that it is a 3 day weekend for most of Amsterdam, but still...
Saturday morning 5 of us took a walking tour of Jewish Amsterdam. I was the only Jew of the group. We got a history lesson from the arrival of the Sephardic Jews from Portugal, because who could forget the Spanish Inquisition, to the arrival of the Eastern European Ashkenazi Jews to the annihilation by the Nazis during WWII. I enjoyed the history lesson, the old Synagogues and the neighborhoods.
The most innovation thing I saw was that the escalators at the subway station, to save energy, only run when someone steps on them.
Had a two hour wait back at the hotel for the next scheduled taxi transfer to the ship. My luggage had been picked up as I left the room that morning, and was in my room when I got here.
It is a small room, but I will most likely just be here to sleep and shower.
Did the safety seminar and drill and the it was dinner. I ate with the two couples I shared a cab with from the Airport Saturday morning. One couple did not do any of the arranged tours, they went off on their own and really toured the city for 3 days.
The ship leaves at 11:30 PM local time, so you can track it on any number of sites (Viking Idun) since it is 5:30 PM back home...
