Finally a deep and good night sleep after a fabulous dinner. I did wake up in the middle of the night, looked out the window and saw the concrete wall of a lock. Closed the drapes and went back to sleep.
There was shipwide music over the room speakers at 8am and time to start my day. Coffee on the very windy and a bit chilly sun deck. Then at 10:15 it was time for my group to go on our excursion.
For me, it was a barge trip to see an operational windmill. It was a 1/2 mile downward walk to the barge. Before the trek and during the walk we got a history and geography lesson on the use of the Windmills. It was a nice scene down the canal to the windmill where a Miller in training gave us a tour. The kept calling the person who runs the windmill a miller, I was expecting a stone grind mill. The windmill is used for moving water so the land does not flood. In addition the miller had gardens, some animals and an outdoor kitchen. This working windmill museum had rabbits, chickens and goats.
After the tour we took the barge back to the giftshop and back to the ship for lunch.
The ship got underway during lunch and we continue on until Cologne.
This afternoon was the Captain's talk, dinner at at 9:15 pm trivia.
